A 15-year-old schoolboy could save millions of lives after he invented a new, low-cost test that can detect the early stages of a deadly form of cancer.

Jack Andraka from Crownsville, Maryland, developed a simple dip-stick test for levels of mesothelin, a biomarker for early stage pancreatic cancer found in blood and urine.

It promises to revolutionise treatment of the disease, which currently kills 19 out of 20 sufferers after five years – largely because its so difficult to detect until its final stages.

This kid should be very proud of himself,to potentially save the lives of so many people.

  1. Obviously the kid is brilliant. When diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, it’s a death sentence for most. Now he should get to work on reversing cancer once it’s detected. Of course when he does, big medicine and big pharma will discredit him and destroy his life.

  2. JG — there have been any number of cancer “cures” developed over the years. They have been buried and shelved by you know who, just like alternative energy and propulsion systems, as Big Oil erases the competition. I’m sure you probably know all this.

  3. Yep, Boom, that’s why I said Big M & Big P would destroy him before they’d let a cure through. Sickening isn’t it? pun intended.
